X-Ray Ball – 300 Levels of Brick Busting Fun
Review by on
There are some things you are going to like about X-Ray Ball, a breakout game offered by Alawar Entertainment, and some things that you are not going to like. Let’s take a look at your X-Ray Ball experience – in a logical progression – and see what you are going to like and what you are not going to like.

The first step you must take should you decide to put X-Ray Ball to the test, is to get it off the web and onto your computer. The download weighs in at 13.8MB. If you are on a high-speed internet connection, it will not take long for the download to complete – which is good. If you are on a less than spectacular internet connection, it will take some time for the download to complete – which is not so good.

The next step you must take is to install the game on your Windows-powered computer. You will like that the installation process goes along smoothly and rapidly. You will not like that you cannot select where to install the game, that you are offered to change your default search provider and homepage to Ask.com, and that you are offered to install Game Box (a catalog of all the games Alawar Entertainment has to offer). You will also not like that an Alawar Games shortcut is created on the desktop without your permission and that an Alawar Games folder is placed in the Start menu – again, without your permission.

Once the game is up and running, you will like that it is a fun breakout game with 300 levels, 3 game worlds, 33 unique bonuses, 3d graphics, and a levels editor.

You can play the game free of charge for a trial period of 1 hour. This is good because it is a lengthy trial; it is bad because once the trial period is over, you will have to part with your hard earned money to get a license and keep playing the game.

Pros
  • 300 levels
  • 33 unique bonuses
  • Levels editor
  • Play free of charge for one hour

Cons
  • Offers to set Ask as your default homepage
  • Offers to set Ask as your default search provider
  • Cannot select the directory where the game will be installed
  • Creates an Alawar Games shortcut on your desktop without asking; the shortcut is not removed when you uninstall the game.
